Purple & Mauve

It was stormy today, there had been heavy rain overnight and the hill culverts were rushing with water. Wellie boot and muddy dog weather. Autumn is coming and the brambles are ripening so it will soon be time to pick and prepare the Christmas Gins!
Its been a wet summer here in Argyll, but the land is lush and green and the hedgerows full of soft colours and textures. The mauve hedgerow in this picture reminded me of an oak bedside table I did recently, I always think purple’s and mauve are quite dominant colours in the Scottish landscape, I like that they tone well with so many other colours. Think of the greens, browns, ochres, purples and greys of the Scottish hillside, a natural palate ready to replicate.
